And, for what it's worth the current will also be limited by the inductance of the circuit.
If, for example, the inductance is 1 Henry then the current will initially rise at 12 amps per second. The more current flows through the circuit, the higher the voltage drop across the internal resistance of the battery and so the lower the terminal voltage of the battery. So the rate of rise of current will fall. The overall effect will be an exponential growth in current in much the same way as a charging capacitor. The energy in the inductor is 1/2 L I^2 so you an calculate the power delivered by the battery by differentiating the energy in the inductor.
