Discrete gate driver

This is what it pretty much looked like.
270ohm R on the input to simulate a high impedance source (which presumably can't drive directly the mosfet).

I also tried a BD911 + BD912 pair, they looked good, but had too low gain with 270ohm on the input. Also, they are not on the cheap side.

When I get my next paycheck I'll order a few dual N + P mosfets, and try a mosfet buffer.

 		IRF7509 is for pretty high voltages, not ideal for RDSon and switching speeds ... still much better than TTL with pull up of course.

 		It's just 30V, do you think it's too high for a gate driver?
And 20 and 16A peak limit, far more then the normal gate driver IC.

Anything more than the max Vgs of the MOSFET you're driving is pretty much wasted.

 		i have been using discrete drivers, here is one example:

it is also possible to use pair of bipolars as totempole in place of MAX4428.

This driver is quite powerful and fast, giving very nice gate drive signal for large igbt's.

Do you know of a better suited pair vailable at a similar price?

I think the N,P buffer should be powered at the same voltage as the MAX4428, or the high P mos won't be fully turned off....I think.
