Any chemical that causes a change in human biology/physiology, besides food and water, is a technical drug. There is no chemistry that has a positive effect, and not an unwanted side effect. (Including the biggest scams of all here in the US, the food suppliment, vitamin, do everything pills. Which are allowed to make claims that the FDA cant verify or even test.)
The effects of radium within my body isnt something i need or want, but for those who need chemo or radio therapy I guess their options are few. This looks like real medical science, but quacks used this type of thing to give people false treatments and steal their money in previous decades.
The basic premise that alpha particles would be more lethal to cancer and less harmful to the patient than gamma, x-ray or beta radiation is interesting, that surely should be studied in-depth since the benefits could be enormous for humanity.

Radiation therapy is a well-known cancer treatment, the treatments are designed to damage the cancer cells more than healthy tissue. This radium containing compound appears to be an in-vivo radiation source which can provide more targeted radiation doses to cancer than typical ex-vivo sources.
