Hi, in my VTTC I have a tube of this type: I put a small radiator on the plate connection and directed a 12x12x2.5 cm computer fan onto the tube, from the side. The fan draws around 0.2A from 12W, so it blows but nothing extreme. The plate seal never gets too hot during operation, nor do the pins on the bottom of the envelope (which are also cooled by the air from the fan).
My question is, is it even possible for the envelope to rupture by being cooled from the side rather than from the bottom, how it's usually done with similar tubes? In the datasheet they state that maximum temperature "of any surface part" can be just 170 °C. I think the envelope might get hotter but the seals never do.
