I spent the day with friends visiting the excavations at Fishbourne Roman Palace, where they have the finest surviving Roman mosaic floors in northern Europe, and have reconstructed the original Roman gardens - a vast archaeological site.

Hey, I went there many many years ago - I was at uni in Soton in the mid-late 70s and we used to cycle over there. Also had a boat on the river at Chichester so used to frequent that area every weekend. Lovely part of the world. Used to be great pubs up as Bosham & Emsworth. Got stuck in the mud there often
