How does the primary coil affect fans below it ?

I got two AC (line current) muffinfans under my primary for the sparkgap. How much will they be affected by the primary coil, sending back alot interference ? Should i have a filter connected before the outlet ? Problem is i only got one filter for the powersource and i use a variac so if i hook the fans up too it they will throttle with the power output.

How much clearence distance is recomended for "items" below the coil ?
