Okay, so i'm building a really small tesla coil, like 22mm diameter secondary small...the resonant frequency is gonna end up being 1.3MHz...my question is, is if I can still use a H-Bridge of IRF640's if i keep the current low enough? I cant do Class E because i dont have an oscilloscope to tune, so please dont suggest it...thanks for any help (:

I already done something like that:

I used IRF740 instead the IRF640, and was a Full-bridge. The IRF740 runned fine, without much heat, the big problem is the gate drive. The TC4429 that I used cant handle 4 IRF740 Gates at 1.5MHz (and I was running at CW, that is worsed), so you will need good gate driver paralleling drivers or using high current / high speed ones like IXDD414.

But it can work, I dont now about IRF640, but I think is like the 740.

Good luck!

Thats awesome!! I'm gonna be using the UCC27425 which is a 4 amp dual gate driver...its got an inverting and non-inverting driver in one chip with an enable pin for each driver

If thats not enough to drive all 4 mosfets then ill probably step up to using the gate driver to drive a push pull type of setup of mosfets with a slightly higher voltage to drive the mosfets...we'll see how things work out :p
