Seems that using the PCIe slot format increases speed even over SATA2, also the power requirements of a laptop drive are far less than a comparable 3.5"
What they should do is release a driveless version of this for a lower price so people can add their own drive (i.e. those otherwise useless terabyte 12.5mm drives.
Sure you will lose a bit of speed but so what.
I can see this being popular with gamers and small format PC builders. A lot of boards have multiple PCIe slots anyway for network and sound PCIe cards.
