Making a protective suit... out of Silly Putty

I recently stumbledupon (website that gives you random webpages based off your interests) and it gave me a cool video, explaining how Xion Protective gear works, and shows how effective it is...

It's soft, bendable, until you hit it with force, then it becomes rigid.

It sounds an awful lot like Silly putty, just...better, somehow.

This is going to sound extremely strange, but has anyone tried to make a "Silly Putty Protective suit?"

that protective gear sounds problematic, say your running away and you get shot its going to go rigid making you fall over causing bad guy to be able to get you and kill you

Well, i don't think it protects that well... Just for falls and general roughness.

shear thickening fluids, like corn starch-water mixture. Many people have talked about body armor of this type, i have yet to see anything useful.
