Well had it been made with any quality he could plug stuff in when it on...
I had one with the oposite problem. If you used the switch on it, it would blow the fuse in my amp The amp was a rackmount stadium one, so no on/off switch on it, and the crappy switch made some noise or something that caused the fuse to vaporise in the amp. Hint:- Always plug stuff in when it is on next time

Ouch! I have a cheap plug strip under my desk, and it does some weird things sometime. You have to really hammer the plugs in as well, because of the tackyness of the interlock. Sometimes I look at the neon and it's on, other times it isn't
Also I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to unplug something when a plug strip is on, unless it's a cheap plugstrip, so I think the thread title is quite relevent

I had the same experience with the difficulty in inserting a plug on some powerstrips. It seems like you need to "break in" the receptacles first. Seems to dissapear after the few first insertions...kinda like "unit is used if plugs fit receptacle without a battle" warning.

Years ago in my grandparents old house they had wall sockets with no on/off switch and very old bar heaters also with no off switch. Every time you unplug them there would be a flash of light as it arced, I always thought that was a little dangerous Richy.
