My brother has a COMPAQ laptop a little over a year old and the screen used to just flicker a little bit but now as soon as he starts it up it's just fuzzy with color. I found that if you move the screen around to certain spots then it will go back to normal but otherwise it does not work as it's supposed to. As far as I know it's out of warranty and it's going to cost $65 to bring it to a computer repair shop. So if possible I would like to fix it to save money, especially if it's something simple like corroded contacts.
I looked online to see what it could be and I found that it's most likely something to do with a loose connection.
I'm wondering if anyone on here has dealt with something similar? I just want to know whether or not it's worth taking apart or if he should just pay the $65

Laptops are fairly simple to disassemble, pop off the little panel just above the keyboard and then remove the screws holding the keyboard on, once you move the keyboard out of the way you can see whats going on, power it up and see if the screen changes when you move the cable around, if so see if one of the contacts is loose, if not try replacing the cable, or the screen itself (new screens should come with cables) Shouldn't be too expensive.

Ah fixed it, turns out the cable was just a little bit unplugged from the socket. Put it back in its place and covered it with some packing tape. Problem solved
