Thanks man!! That's a neat circuit design, i love the vintage projects and whatnot. that would save power and my power supply from working for no reason when it's not freezing. You know, I wonder if my copper wire will even heat or if it's resistance is too low! See i ran and epoxied it in the darn pipe before i even got on here to talk to you guys...really sumb of me LoL! Last night when i got hoem from work here (i still don't have the internet at home as i recently moved) i took out my little Fluke meter and measured my wire. It is a consitent .5 ohms. I also dug through my electronics junk box and found two 8 ohm wirewound audio amp dummy load resistors rated at 50 watts each. So if i calculated this right, and i parallel the 2 resistors for 4 ohms, then the total circuit resistance will be 4.5 ohms and if i vary the wallwort between 3 and 7.5 volts with the little switch on it, the current will vary between around 3/4 of an amp to about 1.75 amps (approx, i forget my calc but i know it is under the transformers max 2 amps output). I wonder if this is enough current to warm the wire. I think i will expiriment and see just to the touch once i can afford the wallwort! I'll let ya's know what comes of this!
Edit - Well i"m gonna scrap the $40 wallwort! I just found a 12.6vac 3 amp stepdown trans on radioshack's site for $10!! By playing with the transformer wiring and my resistors in series or parallel i'll be able to vary my current flow from approx a quarter amp to up to the 3 amps. I am sure this will heat the 24 gauge wire some! i wont really know if this works till winter December, but i think i'm gonna make a duplicate of my wire and do a dry run, with the wire in my hand and see just how warm it gets!

Um, well, to be honest, the best idea is to simply scrap your wire pipe. It's not going to get much work done, and if you just add on the resistors, the resistors will heat up the most, and the wire will not if barely warm up.
