I like the LM723 adjustable V regulator (14 pin dip), even though its pretty old its still useful.

Im also looking for a current control mode IC for a two transistor push pull driven transformer.
the typical voltage control mode wont work for this application. Im searching Mouser right now.

Im l;ooking at the datasheet right now...

Im thinking of using one of these two, But they both have that "soft sart" feature. Im not sure thats a good idea for my application running my transformer so near saturation.

I have the 16HV540-04/P ones, (18 pin dip). Have no idea how to program them though, still learning that part.
