ICL8038 Fuction Generator IC, to bad there not made anymore.

A real golden oldie - a whole signal generator on a chip! Great if you can find some at a good price.

Just ordered 5 from ebay. Several vendors, mostly from China. if they work well then the price is hard to beat.

Are you going to arrange all the information in a sorted matter in the first post? Else this thread will have less value and might float into eternity instead of being a ressource.

The GR4 MM3R chip that you connect between the keyboard and the PC which removes spurious apostrophes from thread titles. smile

Actually, if I remember correctly, it is appropriate to use an apostrophe for abbreviations. I always use one when I type 'photo's' as it is an abbreviation of 'photographs' smile

It is indeed, fine to use it for abbreviations, provided that you use it in the right place. It's distinctly odd to use it for acronyms and TLAs. (Have you ever seen IC written I'C' ?)
It's also fine to use it for possessives. What's not fine is getting the two muddled.
The same chip would have also corrected "to" to "too" in this thread. smile

In all that excitement I forgot to mention the SPO256AL2 speech synth. chip.

Would it also have corrected 'there' to 'they're'? smile

I must admit I often mis-use the apostrophe when referring to multiple components by their part numbers, (eg 2N3055's) for the sake of clarity. (in case it is mis-read as 2n3055s, for example.)

even if it's not "proper" to use an apostrophe-s when pluralizing an abbreviation or acronym, i think it is logical to use one so as to clarify that the "s" is not part of the abbreviation/acronym. grammar rules are B.S. anyways, and if lot's of people repeatedly make the same grammatical error then it becomes accepted as correct. plus, we're scientists here. who cares about little grammar technicalities :P
