Hi all.
Just found a somewhat working (picks up in windows but software requires me to PAY for it, huh?!) ATV dongle.
It has inside numerous interesting parts including a Realtek ALC655 6 channel CODEC.
It seems that with a bit of coding and an AVR I could build a multichannel servo controller, datalogger etc with it. Anyone ever heard of (mis)using one of these chips in this way?
The chip is fully documented on Realtek's site, you can even change the VID and PID on the host micro so it gets picked up as a "Generic Audio Device" for the purposes of getting it working without messing around with a driver at least under XP.
Use the keyboard trick to get the drivers saved under Notepad etc and voila, a plug & play device.
