I thought this might be interesting, and I have always know people who collect but I recently found one of the most bizarre collections I have seen in person, from the least likely person - my doctor collects Glass Insulators (on this board, not too unlikely but for someone who knows nothing about real electronics surprising).
I have a few small "micro-collections" of items, including but not limited to:
-My radioactive objects collection (U-238 metal, Cs-137, Tritium, Trinitite, etc); -My electronics parts of old (tube radios and assort. parts); -Vinyl Records (and yes, I do actually listen to them even for modern bands and albums I tend to get on Vinyl);
-And my newest micro-collection that has just started, with the first items en route, a 35mm Feature Film Collection. I've already acquired a copy of Near Dark (all reels), am the high bidder on some nature documentaries, and I am looking into some trailers for pure effect when screening my collection, if ever, and memorabilia for great movies such as Inception IMO. My university happens to have multiple 35mm screening areas available for reserve.
I also, to my everlasting embarrassment, formerly collected Pokemon and Yugioh cards... I actually did the Pokemon as an investment when I was young, getting the full set to sell in the future. Little did I know that my mom gave them away right as the original sets started to sell for loads online. Oh well, I was a kid who enjoyed them anyways
What things do people here collect?
-Jimmy
p.s: pictures soon once I get my 35mm reels, and others I need to sort though my pictures and reorganize - I have half of my 3TB RAID 5 in use and need to get around to better folder structure

I have a bone and mineral collection! it's actually quite impressive, parks used to ask me to come do shows to teach people about them. But alas, They took up to much shelf space so they're in boxes now
I also have a beer bottle cap collection, I have not added to it recently but I have over a few thousand. The beer brands span several countries and continents

i've got a bag of bottle caps and bobby pins, in case of a fallout 3 apocalypse. the boxes and boxes of electronics/building materials that i will probably never actually do anything with would be considered a collection by most people. I also collect some random stuff to make art/sculptures out of. i've made a quote on my wall out of 92 heparin syringes i once had to inject myself with (at $50 a piece i didn't want to just throw them out)

Does it count to collect observations of animals? Mainly spiders, I spend a lot of time in nature with my macrolens to capture animals in their natural habitat and keep track of my observations on another of my sites.
My friends think this is weirder than building Tesla coils ;)

Site is in Danish, sorry, but lots of pictures :)
Are artist's works on a subject museums considered collections?
And I suspected I'd find people here collected minerals, I would love to do that as well but I am already pushed for space as it is, and in the next week or two I am moving into my new apartment with a roommate!
