Do you live near a metal supplier as I do? Id rather use aluminum, as I can get it for a deal as excess scrap, but it depends on your cost/availability, I too have used copper pipe from the hardware store, but its the most expensive way to get copper I think. So i like to use 0.25" x 0.5" rectangular aluminum bar stock for what youre doing.

I planned on just going to the local scrapyard and seeing what they have in their alumnium or copper bin. There is likely to be aluminum stock/angle and copper pipe...

I recently got the idea to use the aluminum sheets they use to shield the inside of computer towers with. I don't have any conclusive data on its capability (yet) but it's easy to cut with tin snips and you can keep layering it on until you run out of material. A decent size old computer can have quite a bit of this aluminum sheet.
