The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
Okay guys, so I've been up all night and into the early morning here building this little guy. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, and I will definitely be doing a revision. (already ordered better parts)
Now it's not something to brag about when it comes to charging power, but rather for its size. It is capable of 7 watts output, with an 18 volt supply, now in reality you would use probably use 12 volts, possibly even 9, so maybe only like 5 watts? I'm hoping to achieve 10 watts with a 12 volt input on the final version :)
It's really just your basic ZVS driver circuit with the transformer wound for 450 volts. (currently it supplies 680 volts, but i'll reduce it to 450 volts later) The transformer itself came from an old monitor and i just took the old windings off and wound a new secondary and primary. The main reason I made this, is because there's not really any small chargers around, or I havent found them anyway, and I wanted to try and change that.

. you can make them a lot smaller if you ditch the board and do it all freeform/point to point/ open air whatever you wanna call it. yours is an almost identical looking scale model of a board based one i made recently. when you wound the e-core, did you put the primary on the inside or outside? i never tried using a full e-core for a zvs. but i have made tiny u cored flybacks by breaking part of the E off.
This was just a prototype, the final version is gonna be smaller, more efficient, and have some regulator circuitry built in. I've ordered parts for it so i should have it done within like a week and a half :) Oh yes, the primary is on the outside (:
