How Do I Tell Which Connection To Reverse If My DRSSTC Fails To Oscillate?

I am testing my H-bridge of 40N60s in a quick DRSSTC lashup with secondary base current feedback, but I can't get it to oscillate. When I power it up, the 74HC109N flip flop I use for switching synchronization heats up but nothing happens.

What could be causing this problem? I have tried reversing some connections, but to no avail. Do I need to try every possible combination of GDT, primary, and CT phasing, or is there a better way to find out how to connect everything? This is my first attempt at a DRSSTC so I'm not entirely sure how to proceed.

Thanks!

Reversing the primary should not affect the driver, and reversing the GDT and the CT are effectively the same thing, as in doing either one will reverse it, and doing both will negate any reversal. Conclusion: you should only need to reverse the CT

But regardless, the flip-flop should not be getting hot as teravolt said, so something is probably wrong with your driver circuit

I was trying to reverse them sequentially, not all at the same time - my question was whether there was some right combination or if reversing only one would do the trick. Thanks for the tip!

I replaced the flip-flop and the heating problem went away, but still no oscillations. Then, I breadboarded an antenna feedback driver without a flip-flop and all it did was blow some UCCs without oscillating. I also tried a different GDT but with no success.

At this time, I only have a multimeter to test my circuit with (no scope), is there anything I could look for that would provide clues towards fixing the problem? I know for sure that the bridge works because I was able to draw some small sparks from it with my primary feedback driver (the reason I decided to switch to secondary feedback is that my primary feedback driver randomly stopped working after a few low voltage tests).

Thanks!
