The aforementioned have contributed financially to the continuing triumph of 4hv.org. They are deserving of my most heartfelt thanks.
I've been wanting to build an induction heater for a very long time now. I've seen videos of people using the zvs driver in their induction heaters, so I was just wondering, if I built one, I should be able to push 1000 watts right?
My other question is, is would I have to do anything special to the driver circuitry to make it push 1000 watts?

The problem with the ZVS induction heater is that it's shunt fed, which means once your metal reaches curie point the current feeding it drops and thus your total power output drops. If you're heating non-magnetic stuff, you won't get very far. Plus, the gates don't like voltages typically over 50-60 volts, and they start creating parasitic oscillations and destroy the gates, thus destroying your fets.
Hmm...I really just want something that's gonna get metal red hot. In reality I want something with at least a few hundred watts. I planned on having something like a 36 volt input. Also, isnt that what the zener diodes are for, to prevent gate voltage from exceeding whatever the zener voltage is?

If you just want something that will get metal red hot, why don't you just use a step down MOT? Take the secondary off, and wrap a couple turns of really heavy gauge wire in its place. A ton easier than building an induction heater, but not nearly as cool.
Well i've done that in the past when I went through my MOT obsession. I mainly wanna build one because I wanna finally own one. I'm just gonna have to throw something together and see what happens....anything in particular I should know when building one?
