They aborted the engine because the rocket sort of tiltet over and flew in the wrong direction. From what I've gathered the chutes failed because the rocket where flying at very high speeds, I think someone mentioned 600km/h but I dont remeber the source. The chutes would probably have worked fine if they had been popped out in normal operation, that is when the rocket has reached its maxium altitude and is at a much lower speed.

They must be a little slow on the analysis, I found nothing on there website.
