hey, i look to making a drsstc in the near future, and i dont know where to get started. i am not looking for power as this is my first one. the spark length i would like is a 10-12 inches. the most for input power would be 120vac. can someone suggest a schematic? again, keep it simple please, this is my first drsstc.

Steve Ward's DRSSTC .5 is a beautiful small coil.
How much experience do you have with power electronics? DRSSTCs are nontrivial to build.

Yeah, DRSSTC are a little complicated circuits (much more than SSTC and SGTC).

If you never built a Tesla Coil, I would suggest to start with an SGTC and SSTC to get familiar with Tesla Coils.

The Steve Ward DRSSTC's schematics are great, you can start looking up in his site if you want to make a DRSSTC :D

Good Luck!

yea, i have actually built tesla coils before. what im looking for with a drsstc is a very simple schematic. maybe a half bridge desighn with a simple driving circuit. i know a bit about power electronics, and i use mosfets with almost every project i do. the thing i get discouraged by is the complex schematics. the .5 drsstc im sure is pretty simple, but i dont like all the logic gates and other symbols all over the place(not gates, ect.) id like just a simple igbt bridge, and a very basic driving circuit.

Hate to break it to you but those logic gates and other symbols all over the place are what make the coil work correctly. Your not going to find a more comprehensive / simple DRSSTC controller than Steve's UD board.

If you can't grasp the concept then more research / experience may be required before you should attempt a complex project such as this. Taking short cuts leads to blown up parts and disappointment.

Good luck,
Eric

no, i get the logic, i just dont like troubleshooting that much circuitry when something goes wrong. if thats the simplest it gets, then thats what il build. i just want to build the simplest smallest drsstc i can find, as thats all i need. im not looking for 5 foot sparks.
