Hi.I want to make a tesla coil with mots.First of all i wonder what is better 2 mot with a voltage doubler or quadrupler or 4 mot?With 4 mot is been able to use a doubler to take 16kv?I think to make first of all the rotary spark gap with a asychronous motor so i want some information.Motor type UNIVERSAL is good for a rotary spark gap?

Its easier to make work a Spark Gap Tesla Coil in AC. In DC there are much problems that you can have. I suggest you to use only mots, with any doubler or retifier. Its easier to make work :D

If you want to use MOTs (ugh, MOTs!) I suggest a doubler and DC resonant charging or a 2-pack and a doubler; quad-MOT packs are very difficult to make reliably.

I agree, 8kv is just too much for MOTs. I would use one MOT and a voltage multiplier. The hard part is finding a charging choke that can withstand the voltage. A few MOTs would work well

It is a well established fact that 4 mots work well in spark gap tesla coil service. Put under oil, centertapped, the voltage stress from secondary to core is only doubled on the outher mot's, and thay do just fine that way.
I have had great results with a coil of that sorts, with a 120nF capacitor.
