Has anyone used something of the sort, I have seen some that are American made that go for $$$$, but I would just want to mess around with testing some crude homemade PCI/PCI-e devices as a side project.
Expresscard FROM PCI-e I've had experience with (in fact I used to have an expresscard mounted to the front of my ATX Tower) but the other way around I've never seen in person or heard of for hobbyist use.

Hi Jimmy
As far as I know, PCIe and Expresscard are the same interface, just a different plug. The signals are transmitted by LVDS and can go a fair distance: a couple of feet should be no problem.
