Does anyone do a vegetable garden over the summer? Anyone have any tips for eggplants? I do really well with everything, but my eggplants are always pathetic.

Breaking News...

Scientists have proven that egplants are indeed, a plot from Satan himself to torcher little boys and girls.
We at Fox News were able to interview a boy on his opinion.

" NO SHIT"

All joking aside....

Eggplants were created in 1941 by Viver Von Shey, a Nazi scientist, during early nuclear experements held in underground Berlin. They were used in the torcher of thousands of Jews.

Recently, Donald Trump funded a lab that modified the deviced so that any Radical Muslems would dance the Can Can when consumed.

JUST IN: Obama was invited to a party on the set of Celebrity Apprentence. The main dish: Eggplants.

I HATE EGGPLANTS WHY ARE THEY CALLED EGGPLANTS???? THEY ARE PURPLE!!!!

[Edit: Added link. Would have been nice if a mod had done that instead of just making it so small. Thanks guys. mistrust - Will]

Curry has become such an important part of our food culture that I expect brinjal bhaji has now overtaken ratatouille as the most popular aubergine dish here in Britain. Tasty stuff! smile

Where do you live? I'm guessing it's not warm enough.

This summer is my first with a garden with stuff in it you can eat without dying.

I prepared about 20 sq. meters with potatoes, beetroot, leek and strawberries :)

One word: Moussaka

The thing about aubergines is that they must be cooked correctly to draw the bitterness out of them - non-bitter varieties are also now available. If you salt them and leave the salt on for too long, or don't wash them well enough, they taste foul. If you don't cook them correctly, they are tough as leather or turn to mush.

Prepare and cook them well and they are delicious - in Brinjl Bahji (as PM mentioned), in a moussaka, deep fried tempura, oven roasted with olive oil & herbs, as a melintzanosalata or whatever - great vegetable (technically a fruit or berry, not a vegetable).

We grow them in a greenhouse (Lat 50N, Long 0) and they do very well indeed.

Throughout the years I've been into horticulture.
I've learned a ton regarding aquaponics in the past few years,
is anybody into aquaponics or hydroponics?

Sorry I don't know anything regarding egg plants frown
