Yep, checked again and it's definitely wired fullbridge, any special rules for replacing it or will any high current, low voltage diode do? (it's the 0-12 volt output part)

Selenium rectifiers have a significantly higher forward drop than silicon diodes but in this application it probably won't make much difference. Whatever bridge rectifier of sufficient current you happen to have will work, either separate diodes or a packaged bridge.

Weird, separate diodes will work just fine, but I'm really surprised there wasn't a bridge in the power supply of the TV. Did it use individual diodes too?

Haha, found one, but it's not directly attached to mains, it comes after some random transformer and apparently it gets 250VAC in, 24VDC out... from what I can gather from the label... That doesn't make much sense to me, so I'll play with it.

Not necessary in this design, it's a simple unregulated power supply based on a variac. You'll get a bit more voltage out of it with the silicon rectifier but that's likely to be an advantage rather than a problem. A resistor will just make the output sag more under load.
