If I wrapped two primaries around the same flyback and hooked 1 primary to 1 driver and the other primary to the other driver would the arc be a lot more powerful? I will run both primaries off of 2 seperate power supplies

Does anyone know why my plasma speaker arc gets a lot smaller when I parallel fets?
Also I insulated them on the same heatsink but do I need to if they are paralleled?

EDIT: I bought Link2 but they heat up a lot faster than my old IRF644 Link2 which doesn't make sense to me because the new fet has a lower rds(on) than the IRF

If you phased them correctly it would work. If they are off, however, you could end up just dumping power from one driver into the other.

If they are in parallel without balancing then they have a common drain and do not need isolation.
Not sure about the paralleled issue if you are using the same FETs. Is it possible you are not turning them off as quickly due to the increase in total gate capacitance?

You're overlooking Rds(partially on) and its duration.

You will not achieve double the power if thats your plan.

About magnetic saturation, the ferrite or steel core is like a bucket, you can fill a 1 gallon bucket with upto 1 gallon, but if you add 1.1 gallons, then 0.1 gallons will overflow. The ferrite is similar to the bucket, the magnetism like the water.

If driven by the same signal and have the same connections they do not need insulation, why your arc gets smaller I dont know.

Alright thanks for your help

EDIT: I found that adjusting the R1 and R2 values affected how much the wires heated up, and possibly how hot the mosfet gets
