Yes this worries me as well, when he said 1 to 10uS, I thought to myself, well the 10uS isnt too difficult, but 1uS would be. And if he means continuously variable between the two, even more difficult.

I would probably use a capacitor bank with a triggered spark gap or thyratron. Not sure how the pulse length would be controlled though.

It's just a question of money really. As I said you can do this with IGBTs and pulse transformers (maybe air core). You can even drive the IGBT in the linear region to get any pulse shape you want. Or if you want to avoid the head ache of power transformers you can do it with a stack of IGBTs too.

At these voltages and bandwidth both of these are feasible at low BOM cost ... as long as you aren't talking about >>kA currents (at which point triggered spark gaps become the only cheap option, and you need PFNs for a flat top pulse). That just goes back to the inadequate specifications by the OP.

it may be a little more than 2 amps. you can adjust pulse width by making each inductor smaller or lagrer
