90 degree V4 pushrod engine.....sounds like the way to go.....I designed one 25 years ago, but then gave up on it when Honda brought out their 90 degree OHC engine.

90 degree V4 means perfect primary balancing, pushrod means more compact and low centre of gravity....I want one.

Sure, it's a nice engine, but the power output is nothing new. The fastest commercially available mass produced motorcycle in the world is the Hayabusa, which gets about the same stock HP, with 400cc's less displacement. And that is some 10 years before this engine.

I wonder if this engine could be pushed as hard as the hayabusa's. The highest HP i have ever seen from a hayabusa was 900bhp... That is quite a record to beat! Also, the throttle response is pretty crazy, especially since it has from 1krpm to 11krpm if you redline... Or 13krpm if you don't care about your engine much :P

These hayabusa's are crazy with enough boost... here is an example: Link2

Last I looked, Matt was trying to pull wheelies on a ride-on lawnmower. Moar boost! wink

The Hayabusa might be technically superior (how could it not be, it's Japanese) but this thing is cooler. It looks and sounds like these crazy attempts to fit a V8 into a bike, except it actually works. Whether it has more cool factor per dollar than a Ducati or a BMW boxer, or even an old Honda ST given the chopper treatment, is the question.

If they want my money, they better allow for a crank pulley to drive a supercharger. smile

Well, it's a sports tourer so it should have broad appeal. I just wonder if they can make them cheap enough in this economic climate.
Like Harleys, I think they'll have British and Japanese appeal, but they'll be a pricey import.

I remember Honda's NR750 oval pistoned V4. Effectively a V8. Had a price tage of £38000 in around 1991. The the price for innovation.

900BHP Busas are just show pieces. No one really rides one on the road.

Many SuperStreet Busas in the UK actually come from the USA. Namely Velocity Racing. Price tags of around £65000.
But you do get a 7.2 second 200mph (standing start, UK 1/4 mile) bike.

I say good luck to them and hope they don't go down the Hesketh/DeLorean route.
