Hi,
I am looking for a couple screw terminal computer grade caps, 250-400VDC 1000-5000uF. If you guys have any that you don't need anymore, or know of some good deals online...
Hopefully as cheap as possible, and not significantly old stock.
I might have something you want to trade, also, I have a bunch of random parts (including a C444M 600V 1000A SCR, various large motors, a 100W 470ohm resistor, etc.)

Three things 1 - I am fairly sure you need 15 posts in order to sell. 2 - You need to state where you are. 3 - Where are you? As I do have a large box of capacitors all screw terminal that may suit your needs, however the dilemna then arises that i pointed out in number 2.

Ah, dam, I thought I had 15 posts already. Sorry about that.
I'm in Arizona. I was kind of testing the waters, also sorry about the minimal details.
Can you give me info on the caps, if you are still open to selling?

That's true, but he isn't trying to sell anything.

Ah my mistake, apologies to the moderator and the OP.
However to JKowalski I can get the ratings for all the capacitors tonight if you so wish, I do live in Australia though, so ill let you decide if that is too far. From memory the largest I have is 5x 4700uf 450VDC capacitors. but there is quite a variety so if you find it worth your while I will check, you may find a source closer to home.

That is pretty far. I suppose it depends on how much you are willing to part with them for?
Can't find anything immediately local anyways... Still lookin.
Also, how old would you say the typical computer grade capacitor can be and still be considered good condition?

Within the datasheet specification?
I know electrolytics deteriorate over time, but I don't know exactly how long a typical one would last. It also depends on how they have been stored, and how they have been used (and abused), I know this can make a huge difference, especially storage temperature. Personally, I wouldn't blindly trust any capacitor over 15-20 years old without measuring it first. Of course it also depends on your application, how big demands it puts on your capacitor and what sort of reliability you need. An older capacitor might have higher leakage current or higher internal resistance, but that might not matter in your circuit.

Basically. Ones that will last for a while longer (~5-10 years at minimum) without significant decreases in performance.
As far as the application, I'll probably reuse them in a number of different projects. So think generally. Though their main use will probably be as reservoir caps.
