You should edit your original post with proper punctuation, it kinda confuses me. But, i get the gist of what you are saying.
I have a PSU from a plasma, LCD, and LCD projection TV. They are nice, though i have never used one for the supply itself. There are usually mosfets, diodes, transformers, and ICs that are really useful. All three of mine use a self oscillating halfbridge driver IC, but they seem to be proprietary, so i will have to figure out the pins based on the circuit, which may take awhile due to tiny vias and stuff and things...

You might want to sell the boards out of the TV, the YSUS and XSUS boards usually will get ~$100 a piece since they are the ones that fail the most often.

That's how all plasma panels for TVs are made, the coloumn drive ICs are mounted directly to flexible PCBs (FPCs) that connect directly to the glass screen. I don't think it's practical to do this in any other way, as there are usually 2000-6000 connections along the screen. Color LCD panels are made this way too, with FPC-mounted driver ICs for both rows and coloumns, so this sort of failure would be unrepairable for any modern LCD and plasma display.

Also, what is the point of this thread?

By that logic you should be saying "never buy a plasma (or LCD) screen from anyone" don't single out Daytek. Many faults on modern screens are simply unrepairable, either because of custom parts or manufacturing methods. Welcome to the modern world and note I'm not saying the situation is right, just that that's the way it is and there's nothing you can do about it. Would you slag of a manufacturer because they used a fine pitch BGA IC that you had no hope of replacing?

Had this happen to a JVC once. Turns out that these chips are *very* sensitive to power spikes, in fact pretty much all failed plasmas where the panel is physically intact but either flashes or comes on with a big black box mid picture are this problem.
BTW make sure you salvage the flexible thermal pads from behind the screen, they are useful for all sorts of projects.
