That'll be a neat trick - it was only just over 3 ft when it got to Hawaii...

I'm only passing on what was reported (see link), I heard it was 5 or 6 foot at Hawaii (1.6-1.7 metres).

I saw the damage on TV in the marinas in LA, but I've not yet seen any other reports. Thankfully it doesn't appear it was as bad as was predicted.

If Japans reactors send radioactive chemistry all the way across the Pacific to California, I will be so pissed. Dam it.

Latest reports are saying the outer structure of the reactor has 'blown off' and that radioactive caeseum and iodine has been released.

EDIT: "The ceiling of reactor number one has collapsed"

The wind is apparently blowing east, across the Pacific.

notice the difference in reports...
Looks like at least one of the reactors nearly went into meltdown because it took a direct hit from the wave which damaged the cooling system and weakened the buildings, causing the diesel backup generators to fail as well.
Luckily it appears that they managed to contain it so any radioactive leakage should be minimal.

Just what they didn't need at this point with all the relief efforts for the tsunami and earthquake.

that outer-most building does look like it went "high order" sonic or transonic pressure wave shooting straight up, through the roof of the buidling/containment pressure vessel. Really looks like a steam explosion. Shit...

Hopefully the pressure vessel will remain intact, if it is significantly breeched (as with Chernobyl) California (And thus ME) will be glow in the dark shortly.
