Are these tube suitble for VTTC?

I'm not really a tube guy but just from looking at the datasheet I would say no. They only have a Plate Dissipation of 12W, that not much. most of the small VTTC I have seen have at least 100W or so.

You could properly build a tiny VTTC working in the MHz range that will only make a tiny break out or just be able to light up nearby bulbs etc.

I will suggest that you at minimum will need 20 Watt of plate dissipation or more to get some small sparks flying from the break out point. Also the higher voltage rating of the tube makes it easier to get long sparks from small tubes.

My advice is to find a tube in a glass envelope, I am assuming this is your first VTTC, the advantage with a glass envelope is that you can watch the plate and turn off the VTTC if it turns red hot, this way you can save your tube from certain death while experimenting.

Try to find a triode with around 20 Watt filament supply and 50 - 100 Watt plate dissipation, that should make you a nice little VTTC that is easy to build, drive and give decent sparks :)

Once again this is just an opinion form a modest "non-tube guy"

Even though the plate dissipation is 100W, it's only rated for 1000V and at the currents that VTTC run at 1000V is not going to give a hole lot of spark for the same primary current. I would see it logical to use a tube with at least 2kv rating.

I'm not saying it won't work with those tubes, I'm just considering what would be reasonable results from a VTTC.
