Does anyone here have any info on, or any tips towards making a turret similiar to this one but instead of controling it, having it running autonomously via a motion tracker? i would like to build one to track objects through a specific area with a 50mW green laser module, and record the path by having a camera running a long exposure of the target area.
i did it using a pc sending serial data to a pic, which in turn controlled two servos for the turret, with a program based on this getting me the coordinates to aim at.

The particular module i have spare is IR filtered and is the lowest mW i have available. As for my purpose 200mW would be over the top. This was just for some photo ideas I had in mind. Thank you big5824 and radhoo, those links are a great help, and thanks Bjørn for the safety concerns, i do however have several pairs of 532nm blocking goggles and i didnt intend to be in very close proximity to the activated laser anyway.

Autonomous motion sensing laser turret for object path tracking
