So *that* is what i got a couple weeks ago, a DLP rear screen projection TV. This one has an UHP (ultra high pressure) Hg 120w Phillips lamp, and the ballast was some ferrite transformer encased in whatever flybacks are. The board is EUC 132 P/31.

2T

It was on a board with a few film caps, a litz wound inductor, one of those ferrite transformers used in line filters in TVs, an 11a 650v mosfet and a diode, with a small all-SMD board soldered onto it with what looks like 4 SMD mosfets, 3 opto isolators with a 5 pin output cable, and some ICs. If i could find out this main ICs datasheet, i could figure out what each opto input does. It CP3236D, ce9250, and other random numbers with no letters. But then, there are around 6 other tiny SMD ICs with 8-20 pins... There is also a TEA1521T on the main board.

I would like to get mine working, but im not sure how. I have input doubled mains (the PSU uses 350v using a doubler) but nothing happened. I need to figure out this little all SMD board that is soldered sideways on this board, it must be the control section. There are just 3 opto's inputs to figure out. I guess just input 5v with a resistor to each and see what happens?

For the record, these TVs are one of my my favorite type to find. They have a very nice PSU of around 400w, the UHP lamp and ballast, some nice fans, speakers (mine has a 24wx2 audio IC), and cool optics.

How would one go about figuring out how to use the LCDs? Each LCD's pins go to one SMD IC with heatsink, but there is probably a uC controlling the LCD drivers.

the ballast on top is the exact same thing that I have. any ideas on how to get it working?

i tried to use a 35W HID ballast and it works but not very bright,
i only dared to run it for 1 min cuz it might explode or burn out my HID ballast

Any tips on finding one of these TVs? I've taken apart about 5 CRT projection screens but no DLP ones and I'd love to play with all the optics in one.

Faulty DLP projectors are cheap and plentiful on ebay.

Read the Osram docs I posted - chances are the interfaces are all very similar if not identical.

The older ones are getting easier to find. When they break, it's not worth repairing an old low resolution projector.

CRT projection TVs have all sorts of cool parts. High power flyback transformer, some interesting optics, a gigantic Fresnel lens that can melt metal on a sunny day, etc.

can I just use a generic 100W metal hylide ballast to drive the bulb?
