That is a good read. I was always somewhat 'unpopular', not because I didn't know what it was, but because I did and knew it wasn't worth the effort. I hope he got an 'A' on that paper!

I must have went to a strange school. Or perhaps I was so disconnected from the rest of the kids in high school I didn't notice. I do remember a few incidents that could explain my lack of identification with that essay. First, the beginning of freshman year some retarded senior jock type kicked me in the shin for no apparent reason, in the hallway between classes. I wasn't really paying attention but I think it was because I stared at him. Anyhow the next time he did that I punched him in the throat. That ended that.
Secondly a probably about 80% of the most popular kids in school were also pretty smart. So, by junior year, I was in AP and honors classes with all of them. I really wasn't all that popular, but my friends all were. I was't unpopular either. So that pear shaped popularity index if it existed looked more like a Klein bottle. I think I slept though high school(freshman year was about when I got a shell account through the college my mom worked at...). I didn't even go to the proms. I never did drugs either.

I always used to think it was difficult for nerds to have meaningful relationships with women, till I saw this Nerd boy meets nerd girl, and they get married and build a vintage computer museum together. How romantic!
