Hi all. Just had an interesting thought regarding the the new high temp (>200K) materials and reconciling the anomalously high Tc with BCS theory.
My thought is that perhaps the mechanism is a quantum cascade down the length of the molecule, so that as the electrons "fall down" the staircase structure they start to spin around the centre of the structure and eventually link up into Cooper pairs.
I call this "Type 3" or "Quantum Cascade Superconductivity", QCS theory.
An interesting idea would be to construct a more favourable lattice where the atoms on the corners are indium, silver, tin and magnesium arranged in order of decreasing atomic diameter. So the formula would be (AgInMgSn) Ba4Ca2Cu11Ox the extra tin atom in the Sn5In 218K formula is therefore not needed due to the increased atomic weight of the silver.
Idea:-
Maybe instead of using toxic elements such as thallium, use indium, tin, silver and tellurium.
i.e. TeSnInAg equivalent gap is symmetric around Sn, In.
so in theory if I used an alloy of the four metals in equal molar quantities in place of Sn5In i should get a high temp material with all
of the properties of the more toxic Tl or Hg based SC materials.
May also be able to use magnesium instead of copper to boost Tc by PWD
Possibly also sub bismuth instead of lead as this should also dampen lattice vibrations. (TeInSnAg) Ba2Bi2Mg2Cu11Ox
Interesting idea...
Might be able to harvest Bi2Te3 from defunct peltier modules...
generate a similar effect to Tl by combining different elements to synthesize the required outer electron config.
Any ideas or am I barking up the wrong tree?
