750 mW single mode blue laser diodes and 4 Watt multimode blue laser diodes. Imagine, a 750mW blue beam with 405nm like divergence. Also imagine 4 watts of blue laser. Seeing as these things are often conservatively rated I can see it pushing 5+ watts. Going to need something a bit more beefier than an 18650 cell for that one.

not the first time ive heard of this, but it will most likly be the same fiasco with the 1W diodes should this become cheap and readily available. those diodes you mentioned have been around for a while, just issue is avalilablity and cost, so if a popular and mass produced application will use them, then these diodes will soon be in the hands of hobbiest on a large scale.
After having one of these projectors in person, playing with a 24 diode array, and pushing ~2W out of a multi-mode 445 diode, 4W really doesnt impress me. and niether the single mode 750mW diode. the only thing I can see going out of this is even more negative attention.. (cough arctic cough).. omg lightsaber, dangerous deadly weapon.. blah blah blah..
unless I start to see some 20Ws magically working thier way into a 5.6mm can, or mass production of a 532nm direct injected diode, then this isnt really anything too exciting IMO :P
