I have made small tesla coil from disposable camera parts and to my dislike when i power it up, it keeps on interfering with the electronic equipment i have in my home. So how do i stop this from happening? I read that i have to connect an rf choke on it, but where should i connect it?

You can't stop all interference.. A good part is RF and you can only stop using a faraday case and a good rf choke in the mains..

Well, the whole thing is being powered by 2 AA batteries not by the mains.

Do you have this grounded to the mains grounding? Is the issue observable when the coil is in close proximity to the items in question?

Get yourself a 19 inch rackmount power conditioner / filter! They are mainly made to use in audio systems
but it will virtually eliminate any interference back into your mains. I use one for my coils and it works great!
You should be able to pick one up for around 120 bucks. When you are not using it for your coils, plug your computer
into it! They claim they will insure up to 15k in equipment i believe! Google Furman power conditioner.

Whoops! Didn't see it was battery powered.. My bad...
Get some steel screen and make a faraday cage. Ground it and you should be good!

I was going to start a thread on this topic but since this one has been created I thought I'd write my question here.

I'm currently building a spark gap tesla coil. The main issue I have is that the ground at my place is very hard and you only need to dig less than 4 inches before you reach clay so I don't think hammering a rod into the ground is an option. I 've read about several solutions when a ground rod is not suitable for a RF ground including grounding the secondary to a large sheet of copper or aluminum, a wire mesh grid placed on a concreted area, which would couple to the rebar below it, and using a countrepoise which is basically a large array of several dozen thin insulated wires connected to a conductive centre ring. Just wondering if anyone has used any of these solutions when a ground rod wasn't available and how effective they were or what other solutions they may have used besides the ones I have listed.

I'm using a water pipe in the garage.

I think in Australia the mains ground would also be connected to the copper water pipes so that's not an option.

Judging by your posts, i should be ok as far as i have the secondary ground wire connected with a metal object.
Isn't that right?
