Tesla developed the system of a rotating magnetic field. His system was 2 Phase,
A split phase motor is not a 2 phase motor.

3 Phase came later.

My favorite number is 1
Which means my favorite number is 2

A = X
A + A = A + X
2A = A + X
2A - 2X = A + X - 2X
2(A-X) = A + X - 2X
2(A-X) = A - X
2 = 1

Problem?

Well then, by induction, all numbers are your favourite number. Also the Pope is a Jack Russell, etc.

You can calculate the optimum number of phases for a power transmission system. It works out something like 2.7, so they use 3 because it's the nearest whole number.

My favourite prime number is 127.

127/5=25.4

1"=25.4mm

With a 127 toothed gearwheel you can cut metric threads on an old imperial lathe with change-wheels.

Well, I could if I had one, or a clue how to use it.

I shall fax a cookie to the first person to identify the bogus step in GBD's proof.

£15.95 inc VAT.

The teeth are 1/8" pitch, but once you have one you can make another any size you want.

The method of use is outlined here:

Hint for the future cookie bearer: You cannot devide by zero.
