I need to buy one of these facilities, and then make the workers do my bidding.

1296864697 543 FT0 Marx China

This Chinese Marx generator is 25m high. It has 24 stages with a stage voltage of 300kV, but uses a dual supply
system to keep the voltage to Earth per stage at ±150kV. The dual supply system was developed to cope
with problems of high humidity and atmospheric pollution.

hmm.
Interestingly enough the Russian facilities were used during the Cold War, to investigate the weapons potential of particle beams.
(think SDI aka "Star Wars", etc).

Apparently they did get a working prototype just before the money ran out, of an aircraft mounted NPB (neutral particle beam) which would have acted as an airborne EMP.
Unfortunately the effect worked both ways and would have wrecked the generator and attached aircraft due to the backscatter.

"Bother!" said Pooh, as his PC threw a cyclic redundancy check error...
