Has anyone experimented with using cores from modern flyback transformers for other purposes? How much power can one reasonably push through one in the 50-100kHz range? As far as ferrite cores go, they're the largest I've seen that are easily found to salvage and the shape is good for HV transformers with the primary and secondary windings on separate legs.

They make good inverter transformers.
