Is there any replacement to this IC in steve ward's new tesla coil driver?

I can't find any chip of the UCC line in my local stores, and I want to avoid ordering through internet when possible due to shipping costs to Panama.

I've seen the IR2110, but the propagation delay is larger than the ucc line. Would this cause a problem in a medium sized tesla coil. I'll let you define the frequency, as I can still make adjustments to the tank circuit to lower the frequency. An advantage of this IC is that it has a high side driver, which could be used to drive the high side Mosfet instead of the current arrangement.

I've also been contemplating the possibility of a discrete driver, such as a totem pole, but I don't think I would manage to match the amperage specifications of the driver. If this could be a viable option, tell me about how much current the mosfets would need to operate happily, and I'll try to figure the rest.

If there are other more common mosfet driver alternatives, please tell me.

perhaps a tc4426 would be fine.

@Hei

Thanks for that, it may work. Although the amperage is smaller, the timings seem about right and I do not think that the ampearge will cause any problem, although I may be wrong. Please correct me if so.

There is nothing special about the UCC27423. Its just a generic dual gate driver. Any dual driver with similar characteristics will work fine, as will using two separate gate drivers (instead of a single package) work as well. i.e. using a UCC37321 and UCC37322 instead of the single UCC27423.

As mentioned in the first post, I heve not seen any Ic of the ucc line in my local stores. The ir2110 is available, altough it has a slower propagation delay (110 ns) and I am not sure if that could cause problems in a Telsa Coil. As for other drivers, could you please tell me the code of a common one as when I ask them for a mosfet driver, they look me with a What Is That face; and searching in google turns all drivers, not only the common ones found in stores.

I am also considering a discrete driver, is it worth the trouble or I spend the extra shipping to get it here.

The IR2110 is a high-side driver: the wrong kind of driver for this circuit.

If you can get the TC4426, it should be OK. It can't supply as much current as the UCC27423, but the MOSFETs it's driving are pretty small.
