When a coil finished and working good, and you don't plan on making any changes to it. Should you remove the unused turns on the primary? Could cutting off the outer turns improve performance?

I would leave an extra half turn on just in case it needs to be adjusted. Some people say extra turns makes it into an autotransformer but I really don't see why that would be particularly bad.
