I will guess a 500 us long 24.5 kHz pulse train that repeats periodically (that is to say 500us pulse train followed by 500us silence )....assuming an edge-triggered flip-flop...

Yes, square waves are 50% duty cycle.

No one has gotten it yet. Hint: The answer isn't anything complicated (i.e. jitter, delays, etc...)

for 1ms the clock will toggle when the input is high, so the output will follow the clock at 49kHz. Then for 1ms the clock will toggle when the input is low, so there will be silence on the output. So there will be 1ms burst of 49kHz interrupted by alternating high and low pauses. Actually not sure about that, the pauses could also be all low. Is this what people do for SSTC interruptors?

EDIT: the beat frequency between the 100kHz wave and what I view as a 98kHz wave would be 2kHz, so 500us long bursts of 49kHz

hmm, well assuming it is an edge triggered d flip flop, the Q will take on D when the clock changes. Because the output can only change at the falling edge of the clock, the output wave can only be some factor of 100khz, so with a 49khz input frequency I would expect a 50khz output frequency. But because the output will be going 2% faster than the input one pulse will be missing every 50 cycles...
So; you will have a 49pulses at 50khz followed by a missing pulse, followed by another 49 pulses at 50khz...

Edit:
OH, I get it now, I was imagining the clock and the d input backwards :-@
