Hi all. Just found something very interesting regarding adding of silver nanoparticles (or at least slightly larger) to superconductors to increase the Jc.
can anyone explain how this might work? I know that silver has interesting properties when in proximity to a superconductor due to the electron configuration (the supercurrent penetrates a few nm into the silver and this increases the current capacity)... effectively it means that for a typical superconducting cable one large strand carries say 1000 Amps per mm2 but 10 smaller 0.1mm strands encased in silver can carry 10,000 amps/mm2.
as i have a cunning plan
PM me for details. -A
