I have been playing with these base fed vttc's recently and have been trying to match this . I have been using GU-50's recently
Here is the basic schematic I was wondering, would making the inductor and resonator a single coil, but center tapping them, help improve performance? Would it couple the electromagnetism from L2 to the resonator (L1) and improve anything?
I am thinking not, because if it where to make it more efficient, it would have to reduce the losses somewhere and turn it into more output, but there are no real losses anywhere but the tube, which im sure that will not get any better. But, i figured i would ask.
But then, the coupling would probably be all wrong, which could be solved using a coil inside of a coil, like a primary and secondary, the primary being the RF choke. I know the RF choke has an RF field (obviously), because i had a screwdriver in the middle of it and it heated from eddy currents. I think if i did try this sort of hybrid between base fed resonator and transformer action, it would probably be just like either one by itself.
I guess, i am just wondering if it would give better impedance matching to allow more power through the tube while heating less.
