Two magnets, 2 nails with about 100 turns of 28 gauge wire on each. input 12vac @ 1.2 amps @ 60hz

Lol the heat from the electromagnets melted the hot glue holding them in place and they crashed into the armature at the end of the video wink

this took me about 3 hours to make, i thought it would be a good example of a induction motor amazed

I have a tri pod but I not at my house for some odd reason confused

I'm gonna make the magnets 90 degrees apart that will help a bit

It looks more like a synchronous permanent magnet motor to me, rotor of magnets e.t.c.

Could someone explain where the induction part is going on, since I only see to electromagnets pushing and pulling two permanent magnets spinning around.

It's a neat construction, maybe not that efficient, but it clearly shows a point :)

yeah I guess its synchronous, this thing is soooo touchy its hard to get it too run, i got REALLY lucky in this video it started on its own, most of the time i have to spin it

Yea that is an AC permanent magnet motor, an induction motor uses an electromagnetic field greated from field 'windings' in the rotor which at powered my transformer action which is excites from the stator coils. The electric fields oppose, etc. Like a washer tosser, in theory, except instead of a linear motor, it is transformed into rotary.

Heres some thing you can try:

After it is running, used a DPDT switch to reverse
the polarity on one of the coils.

After it is running, see if it will run on one coil.

Try a diode in series with the AC and see it it will run

Also does your motor start by itself, when you position
the roor over rthe magnets?

Try winding one of the coils with thinner wire, when you do
the 90 degree experiments.

It self starts if the magnets are near the coils, put if it is right next to the coils it just buzzes. for some reason my magnets keep degrading with this, i need stronger magnets, and a bigger core for the coils besides a nail tongue

Three words. Microwave oven fan. The core and coil will work great, if you use high enough voltage to get the current/turn needed for strong enough field.
