I am trying to build a Tesla Coil with ignition coil or flyback now.I can't afford a NST.I build my coil according to the instruction on Deepfrienneon website. But I can't see any spark.

I also tried to build this Link2 but it dosen't work.

What I have now is several flyback and ignition coil(and driver),several high voltage cap(three 0.1uF 8kv,two 2700pF 27kv),3 secondary winding(D:110mm 1000turns,D:20mm 2200turns,D:50mm 1800turns) and some basic components.Can I build a very small SGTC from these things?I can't afford a NST.I can't find MOTs either.

I have some(more than 100)working power MOSFET and IGBT found in a trash box at a school lab but SSTC is too complex for me and I can't find UCC37321 IC.

thanks

If you still have the setup that you linked to
- I'm not surprised it didn't work with 2N3055's ... far too low voltage rating, for an ignition coil 300 to 400V is a MINIMUM.
SO, replace the 2N3055's with one high-voltage transistor as found in flyback circuits in TV/Monitor (HOT, horizontal output transistor)
OR I would drive a single igbt directly from the 555 output.

The two 2700 pF in parallel sounds like a good start for a primary capacitor.

I'm not using the driver describe on this webpage.I build another driver using IRFP3415.The spark from my ignition coil driven by this driver is longer than the driver on the webpage.

I have read some webpages already but sitll don't know what to do to properly adjust by coil.

Should I use diodes to rectify the output of the ignition coil or not?

BTW,what is the diffrence between these two circuit?which one should I use?

I doubt there is an appreciable difference, but the second is what i always used. The spark gap is directly in parallel with the HV source, so it is impossible for any voltage higher than the spark gap's breakover voltage to get to the NST. At least, that is what i always saw. But really, that is not the case, there are still stray inductance and capacitances before the spark gap and in the spark gap.
