Nice! That combines both my loves, electronics and metalwork/welding. So what circuit to build for my garden ??? I think the schematic of a 555 might be too ambitious?

555 block diagram would just be showing off. I think a 555 astable circuit would be more modest and still very neat.

Agreed. Set your goals high and reach for the stars. And then, there is a project thread on the forum who's sole purpose is for members to show off. But if you make it i expect to see the pics tongue.

Behold the provisional design for my new front gate :-

I may add 8 "legs" (2 of which will be hinges). It will need a bending jig for the resistors and also jigs to make the transistors and earth symbols.
